Where we work
The NOIDA area is rife with small urban villages that were left behind after a majority of land was acquired from villagers to build middle and high income group residential complexes. These villages, sitting juxtaposed against an affluent urban landscape often struggle to get attention from the administrative authorities. The schools built for children of these areas lack the trained manpower and facilities required to teach them even the most basic reading skills.
Without imaginative methods and creativity, children lose their interest in studies and hence, these schools witness high dropout rates. The Books for All Libraries are remedying that one small step at a time based out of three centres:
Rajkiya Prathmik Pathshala (Government Primary School), Gejha Village, Sector 93 NOIDA
Which is visited by nearly 100 students from Class III to Class V everyday
Noida Educational Academy Public School (NEAPS), Bhangel, Sector 110, NOIDA
Which is caters to 250 students from Class II to Class VII
Anglo Indian Public School (AIPS) Madanpur Khader Sarita Vihar, New Delhi
Where over 200 students from Class II to Class VIII visit our centre .
Our mission is to develop in the students an interest in reading books and have fun while learning. As we ventured forth each volunteer gave to the children a little more of what we all are fortunate to have and take for granted. The children are encouraged to
- Believe in themselves
- Speak their mind without fear
- Dare to dream
- Aspire and think
In the words of Swami Vivekananda: Arise, Awake, and stop not till the goal is reached
